- Pay rate of $61.56ph (including casual loading)
Programmed are currently seeking a qualified and experienced Maintenance Fitter to join a well-established food manufacturing site based in Truganina. This is a long-term day shift opportunity working within a fast-paced, automated FMCG production environment.
This role will see you working as part of a skilled engineering team, responsible for maintaining and improving the performance of automated production lines. You will play a key role in minimizing downtime through effective fault finding, troubleshooting, and preventative maintenance.
Key Responsibilities
- Attend to breakdowns on automated production lines and restore equipment to optimal operation
- Conduct preventative maintenance (PM), inspections, and servicing of mechanical equipment
- Diagnose faults, identify root causes, and carry out timely repairs
- Perform mechanical repairs and component replacement (bearings, gearboxes, valves, etc.)
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex issues to minimise production downtime
- Work collaboratively with production and engineering teams to resolve technical issues
- Interpret technical drawings, schematics, and manuals for accurate maintenance work
- Use workshop tools and equipment, including TIG/MIG welding, grinders, and drills
- Maintain accurate maintenance records, breakdown reports, and documentation
- Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance reliability and efficiency
- Ensure compliance with all safety, food hygiene, and quality standards (HACCP / GMP)
Skills & Experience
Essential:
- Trade qualification in Mechanical Fitting / engineering
- Proven experience as a Maintenance Fitter within an FMCG or food manufacturing environment
- Strong mechanical and fault-finding skills on automated equipment and conveyor systems
- Ability to troubleshoot and resolve breakdowns efficiently under pressure
- Experience working independently and managing workload effectively
- Strong communication skills with the ability to liaise with production teams
Desirable:
- Experience with CMMS systems (e.g. SAP, Mex)
- Exposure to Lean manufacturing and continuous improvement practices
Qualifications
- Trade qualification in Mechanical Fitting / engineering
- Disconnect/Reconnect (D Licence) – highly regarded but not essential
